Columbia Ultimate recently wrapped up its annual “Days of Giving” event for 2015, an initiative which focuses on supporting local philanthropic organizations that enhance the quality of life in Washington’s Clark County and the Portland Metro Area. In total, Columbia Ultimate associates volunteered over 145 hours to support Share Vancouver, Clark County Parks and Northwest Children’s Outreach in Vancouver, WA.
“Columbia Ultimate associates are a group of caring people who live and work in Clark County and Portland and who want to give back to those communities,” said Columbia Ultimate President & CEO R. Fred Houston. “We have a corporate culture of volunteerism, but our associates taking time during their busy days to participate are what truly drive our mission to support the community.”
A number of Columbia Ultimate volunteers supported Share Vancouver, which provides 90,000 meals a year, warm beds and clothing to individuals and families in need within the Clark County community. The associate volunteers sorted and checked donated goods to help deliver the right items to the appropriate families, as well as cleaned and painted rooms in the local Share House.
Additional volunteers spent a day in the cold and rain supporting Clark County Parks by clearing storm debris, picking up litter and cleaning benches and tables at several local parks. Another group of associates donated their time at the Northwest Children’s Outreach organizing donations and preparing orders for local children in need.
“The Columbia Ultimate volunteers did a fantastic job. They were all cheerful and fun to work with,” said Mary Oldham, center coordinator with Northwest Children’s Outreach. “We are so thankful for their support and would welcome them back again in the future.”
Additionally, Columbia Ultimate collaborated with the Clark County Salvation Army to place a Christmas tree in the company’s lobby with gift tags, which employees selected and fulfilled to support 35 local families.
